The Des Moines-based TheatreMidwest’s third season will feature five plays written by women who have lived and worked in the Midwest. They tell stories of their struggles to make ends meet, the loss and grieving of loved ones, navigating political correctness in today’s world, and the destruction caused by climate change and natural disasters. The performances include four free concert readings and one fully staged production. The lineup includes “Fresh Produce Concert Readings: Stripped” by Colleen O’Doherty, October 2020; “The Thanksgiving Play” by Larissa FastHorse, November 2020; “Nickel and Dimed” by Joan Holden, based on the novel by Barbara Ehrenreich, February 2021; and “When the Messenger is Hot” by Laura Eason, March, 2021. Information about auditions, locations and ticket sales will be announced on TheatreMidwest’s Facebook page.
