Stan Thompson of Clive has been appointed executive director of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced this week. Thompson has served on the Iowa Public Information Board since 2020 and six years on the Iowa State University Alumni Association Board as a board member and chair. Thompson, currently an attorney with Dentons Davis Brown PC, has a juris doctorate from the George Washington University National Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Iowa State University. In February 2021, Elizabeth Johnson resigned as the commission’s executive director. Thompson begins his new job on Monday. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Iowa Senate.
