The revised healthcare bill will cost $940 billion over the next 10 years, according to Congressional Budget Office estimates obtained by CNN.com today. But, the bill would also cut the deficit by $130 billion during the first decade and $1.2 trillion the following decade. Read more.

The Growing Green Communities will receive a grant worth $322,500 from the Watershed Improvement Review Board, which will be used to make improvements to the Camp Creek Watershed during the next three years. The grant will target 40 acres of permanent easements, which will enhance water quality from hundreds of acres of land included in the 23,000-acre watershed. “This grant gives us the resources to make targeted improvements to the Camp Creek Watershed and more importantly, the quality of the water,” said Tom Hadden, executive director of Metro Waste Authority, in a press release.

Central Iowa Works awarded $76,880 in Workforce Partner Innovation grants to three organizations that will use the funds to improve the workforce skills of disadvantaged workers. The IT Center of Excellence received $35,000, Drake University received $11,880 and Des Moines Area Community College received $30,000. “We feel the programs selected for funding in 2010 continue to reflect our dedication to increasing the financial stability for individuals and families,” said Shannon Cofield, president of United Way of Central Iowa and chairperson of the Central Iowa Works Funding Collaborative.
