Casey’s General Stores Inc. reported income of $28.8 million, or 57 cents per share, in its first fiscal quarter, compared with $29.8 million, or 59 cents per share, in the same period last year. Revenues rose 22 percent to $1.57 billion in the three months ended July 31, from $1.28 billion in the same period last year. The results include a one-time charge of $2.6 million related to flood damage, the company said. The company said gasoline sales at stores open for at least one year increased by 0.5 percent in the quarter. Grocery and other merchandise sales at those stores increased 4.7 percent, and sales of prepared food and fountain drinks rose 12.3 percent. The company reported an 8.9 percent increase in operating expenses. Casey’s board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of 7.5 cents per share.

The Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) will break ground at 8:30 a.m. Friday on a 7,500-square-foot office building at 855 E. Court Ave. The association obtained a one-acre parcel for the building site in a swap with the state of Iowa, which needed to acquire the IACCT’s building and land at 707 E. Locust St. for the West Capitol Terrace park project.
