Timm leaves CISS; Ferguson named interim director

Central Iowa Shelter and Services, Iowa’s largest homeless shelter, announced that shelter Director Tony Timm is leaving the organization for  another employment opportunity. Former shelter board member Jim Ferguson has been appointed interim director while a search is conducted for Timm’s replacement. “Tony Timm has been an extraordinary leader for our organization and has represented us well in the community,” CISS Board Chair Justin Schoen said in a release. Ferguson is a 13-year volunteer and served 10 years on the CISS board of directors. During his term as board chair, he was involved in planning construction, fundraising and public art for CISS’ new building in downtown Des Moines. Since his retirement as a public school administrator, Ferguson has taught at Simpson College and has worked in development with Resource Development Consultants. He and his wife, Jill, live in Clive.
