The result came from a survey of 18,500 alumni of 102 M.B.A. programs.

Fortune ranked Dartmouth College’s M.B.A. program as the best in the nation and placed the University of Virginia’s program atop the public school list.

The survey also found that the typical Tippie M.B.A. graduate pays off college costs within three years of graduation, sooner than the graduates of any other graduate-level management program in the nation.

In another magazine survey, Fortune Small Business ranked Tippie’s undergraduate program as one of the 25 best places in the United States to study entrepreneurship.
