Torp named airport operations chief

138 wordsAll Latest News, On the Move, TransportationClinton Torp, a 14-year aviation veteran, has been named operations director at Des Moines International Airport. He previously was director at La Crosse Regional Airport in Wisconsin. Torp will lead 31 employees who ensure compliance with federal regulations, guide airfield maintenance, manage relations with tenants, and oversee security programs. His team will be among the lead staffers on the project to build a new airport terminal, part of a nearly $500 million airport overhaul. Torp has a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from the University of North Dakota and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin. He is a licensed commercial pilot and a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives. Torp said he previously led the construction of two smaller airport terminals.
