Trial set for next year in Water Works nitrate case

90 wordsAll Latest News, Energy, Government Policy and LawU.S. District Judge Mark Bennett has set Aug. 8, 2016, as the start of proceedings in Des Moines Water Works’ lawsuit against three northwest Iowa counties the utility claims should be regulated under the federal Clean Water Act because of heavy nitrate pollution. Bennett expects the case to last about two weeks. He set a final pretrial conference for July 26, 2016. Those dates could change later, and the case could be settled at some point.
