The Truck Renting and Leasing Association recently honored Tom Brown, CEO of Urbandale-based Brown NationaLease, with the Steve Lawrence Legacy Award during the association’s 2022 annual meeting held in Aventura, Fla. TRALA’s membership includes nearly 500 leasing and rental firms and 100 suppliers that make up nearly the entire U.S. truck renting and leasing industry. Brown has served on the board of directors of TRALA for more than 25 years, including two terms as chairman, as well as treasurer. “Tom has been instrumental in his dedication to our industry and to TRALA through his work in supporting key initiatives,” said TRALA President and CEO Jake Jacoby. Brown has held leadership roles in the family-owned company for 53 years; his father founded the company in 1940. In addition to truck leasing, the Brown family expanded into multiple companies in the trucking, logistics and warehouse business, including Brown Distribution Management Group, Brown Logistics LLC, Greenfield Logistics, G&H Motor Freight, Centennial Warehousing and Logistics, Mid America Logistics Group LLC, Brown Properties LLC, Meadows Warehousing Co., Brown Warehousing, Distribution Properties, Mid America PacLease, and Transcredit. The Steve Lawrence Legacy Award was named after one of the eight original founding board members of TRALA to recognize individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on the association.
