Tulsa wins Ironman event; Des Moines was a finalist
Officials at Catch Des Moines are still in conversation with representatives of the Ironman triathlon, which chose Tulsa, Okla., for its new event in 2020. Des Moines was a finalist. Greg Edwards, president and CEO of Catch Des Moines, said the strong support of the event in Greater Des Moines has left him and others “highly encouraged about future opportunities with the Ironman brand in the very near future.” Officials declined to elaborate. Fayetteville, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., also were finalists.
