UI, UNI nix spring break, maintain hybrid learning next semester

101 wordsAll Latest News, HR & Education, Iowa NewsCedar Rapids Gazette: The University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa today unveiled COVID-19-related changes to their spring semesters — including nixing the storied student rite of spring break. The universities also will start the spring 2021 semester later, on Jan. 25 — one week past the original UI start date of Jan. 19 and two weeks past when UNI was supposed to start Jan. 11. “This change was made in consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the ability to maintain the same number of instruction days while starting one week later,” according to a UI campus message.
