United Way free tax sites open
United Way of Central Iowa’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites are open for the season. VITA offers free tax preparation services for Central Iowans who earned $50,000 or less in 2012.
The eight Central Iowa sites are staffed by 220 IRS-trained and -certified volunteers. United Way hopes to complete more than 4,000 returns by the April filing deadlines.
