UnityPoint Clinic announced today that it has begun offering the option of receiving care for minor health conditions virtually — by phone or secure video via computer, tablet or smartphone. UnityPoint Clinic is partnering with MDLIVE, a national network of board-certified telehealth doctors, to make virtual care available to anyone in areas served by UnityPoint Health, the clinic said in a release. “Technology has made it possible to do many things faster and more conveniently, and now it presents an opportunity to expand access to health care services to more people in real time,” said Dr. Alan Kaplan, president and CEO of UnityPoint Clinic. The virtual care service will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and people do not have to be established with a UnityPoint Clinic doctor to use it. According to asurvey conducted last year by MDLIVE, 82 percent of Americans 18 to 34 who have a doctor say consultations over a mobile device are the best option for them.
