UnityPoint Health-Des Moines selected for national clinical initiative

UnityPoint Health-Des Moines has been selected to participate in “National Initiative VII”:  Teaming for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice.” The initiative is sponsored by the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers, a national membership organization of independent teaching hospitals based in Chicago. West Des Moines-based Unitypoint Health-Des Moines is among 31 AIAMC member health systems and hospitals selected for the initiative, based on their demonstrated commitment to better understanding and improving teaming in their clinical learning environments. A leadership team of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, residents and medical education administrators will attend four on-site learning sessions as well as monthly networking teleconferences and educational webinars during the 18-month program. “UnityPoint Health-Des Moines is excited to participate in National Initiative VII, and we are proud to be the only health system in Iowa participating,” said Dr. William Yost, vice president of Medical Education and Research for UnityPoint Health-Des Moines. “Our goals are to improve the safety of care, quality of clinical care and the patient’s and clinician’s experience.”
