As senior vice president of clinical integration and optimization, Williams is responsible for leading system quality, patient safety, patient experience, process excellence, analytics and information technology. In his added role as CEO, he will help ensure that the ACO focuses on getting the right care to patients at the right time, while avoiding unnecessary duplication of service and preventing medical errors.
ACOs are groups of doctors, hospitals and other health care providers who come together voluntarily to give coordinated, high-quality care to their patients. ACOs are part of a movement by health care providers away from a payments system based on volume of care toward one that rewards quality and value.
Williams has nearly two decades of clinical experience with UnityPoint Health and its predecessor, Iowa Health System. He is residency-trained and board-certified in pediatrics. He received his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, and completed his pediatric residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Ore.
