UnityPoint Health announced that it will consolidate its services in Marshalltown by closing its North Campus facility downtown and expanding the Medical Park on Marshalltown’s south side. A planned expansion of the South Campus is expected to add 65,000 square feet to the campus, bringing its total to 137,000 square feet. UnityPoint officials reiterated that they do not anticipate closing any services in the foreseeable future as a result of the consolidation. UnityPoint Health purchased Central Iowa Healthcare in Marshalltown two years ago, and in October closed the hospital’s obstetrics and women’s health units. “UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown has been on a journey to redesign the health care services that are needed and supported in Marshalltown,” UnityPoint officials said in a statement. “We’ve made a commitment to remain in the community and have adapted our services around what the community actually uses and needs.” UnityPoint said it plans to seek competitive bids for the construction project.
