Since reopening for the summer on May 20, the University of Iowa Food Pantry has distributed 12,228.5 pounds of food -- up from the 1,905.5 pounds distributed in total during the 2019 summer, the Daily Iowan reported.

The food pantry is free to all UI faculty, staff and students and has seen a particular increase in staff visiting, the Daily Iowan reported.

Iowa Stops Hunger is a year long Business Publications Corporation initiative to bring awareness and action to food insecurity in Iowa.
