University of Nebraska Medical Center plans billion-dollar upgrade
Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha have announced plans for a major expansion project, with plans for a new multibillion-dollar medical complex to consolidate care at one location and replace some of its older facilities, Becker’s Hospital Review reported. The project, which officials said would cost between $1 billion and $2 billion, aims to upgrade the medical campus, provide more space for clinical trials and improve student recruitment efforts. Buildings in the new complex, to be constructed on the northwest corner of the current medical center campus, could include one or more new towers for research and inpatient care.
