Igor Inc., a Greater Des Moines technology company, won $125,000 in funding on Tuesday during the Clean Energy Challenge held in Chicago. The company received the $100,000 Wells Fargo Prize, as well as the McCaffery Lakeside Building Efficiency Prize worth $25,000, according to a report by CleanTechnica.com. The Urbandale-based company developed a money-saving power-over-ethernet lighting, sensor and data system. Another Iowa-based company, Advanced Renewable Technologies International Inc., competed in the competition as a finalist but did not win any monetary awards. That student-led company, which has developed an innovative biochar material that addresses water, soil and air quality issues, will be featured in the April 17 issue of the Business Record.
