Urbandale council to consider capital improvements budget

137 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawThe Urbandale City Council will have a public hearing Tuesday evening for a 10-year capital improvements budget that includes $228 million in projected spending, with $13 million in construction slated for this year. Projects planned for the upcoming construction season include the nearly $1.9 million addition of two lanes to 142nd Street between the Walnut Creek bridge and Hickman Road in anticipation of construction of a CVS Pharmacy at 142nd and Hickman; the nearly $8 million widening of one bridge and construction of a second bridge on 156th Street between Meredith Drive and Waterford Place, where nearly 300 residential lots have been platted; and a nearly $2.8 million project to install storm water and wastewater lines along Douglas Avenue from 100th Street to the Interstate 35/80 interchange and the addition of a monument sign at the interchange.
