The city of Urbandale will launch the process of plotting its housing future during a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Giovannetti Community Shelter at Walker Johnston Park, 8900 Douglas Ave. The session was triggered by a technical assistance grant that was awarded to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to determine a community’s desire to preserve and develop affordable housing as it promotes job growth. City staff and local leaders will have separate meetings with housing and planning consultants.
