US Department of Labor to end State Extended Benefits in Iowa
The U.S. Department of Labor is ending the unemployment Extended Benefits (EB) program in Iowa after the state’s insured unemployment rate averaged below 5% for the last 13 weeks, Iowa Workforce Development announced on Friday. The last payable week on the EB program is the week ending on Oct. 31, meaning that claimants cannot continue to receive EB even if they have not yet received a full 13 weeks on the program. Those who lose EB may be eligible for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program. More information and application for PUA is available online.
