USDA unloads data after shutdown

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today started distributing data that was withheld during the federal government shutdown, Successful Farming reported. That could affect the market and farmers’ planting decisions for this year. “We will quickly and smoothly get back to full speed,” said Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue on social media. Most of the USDA’s workforce of around 95,000 was furloughed during the five-week partial federal government shutdown.
