The Iowa Utilities Board this week issued an order starting a rule-making process that would guide the installation of electric vehicle charging stations. Comments will be accepted through Sept. 17. A public workshop is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 17 at 1375 E. Court Ave. In a related docket (TF-2017-0305), the board declined to rule whether electric energy sold for the purpose of EV charging at commercial or public stations is considered the resale of electric energy and whether fuel retailers may sell electric energy by the kilowatt-hour for the purpose of charging. The board chose to start a formal rule-making process instead.
