Valley High School to recognize inaugural Hall of Honor inductees
Valley High School will honor six outstanding alumni, retirees and volunteers with induction into the school’s newly established Hall of Honor this spring. The six inductees, selected by a committee of staff and community members from more than 30 nominees, are the first class of Hall of Honor award recipients. The inductees are neurosurgeon Phil Carter, filmmaker Peter Hedges, West Des Moines Mayor Steve Gaer, retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Chuck Munns, district parent and community member Cindy Todd, and retired district teacher Jim Underfer. They will be recognized at a ceremony and reception on May 5 at the Staplin Performing Arts Center. The day before the ceremony, they will speak with current Valley High School students about their contributions to the Valley High School community and life journeys.
