Variety raises more than $200,000 at Polo on the Green
Variety – the Children’s Charity raised more than $200,000 during its 25th Annual Polo on the Green event that was held July 17 at Powder River Ranch near Cumming. It returned to a live event this year after going virtual in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of community support that we received during Polo on the Green this year,” Sheri McMichael, executive director of Variety, said in a news release. “Polo is such a unique event, and we were overjoyed to bring the community back together for a special evening while raising dollars to better support children in our state.” Polo on the Green received a record-breaking amount of sponsorship money this year. Sammons Financial Group, BrownWinick Law Firm, Fareway, Graham Construction, GreenState Credit Union, Bankers Trust, Cognizant, Diageo, Scheels, Willis Automotive and Ziegler all donated to the event. Money raised during the Fund-A-Need portion of the event will support Variety’s mobility program by providing adaptive equipment to children living with special needs. Funds will also support Variety’s overall mission of improving the lives of children in Iowa who are at-risk, critically ill or living with special needs.
