Third-generation Iowa manufacturer Vermeer Corp. is among four Midwest-based, family-owned companies featured in the Creators Wanted virtual series produced by the National Association of Manufacturers. The episode, “A Family Tradition: Building a Legacy in Manufacturing,” highlights how family-owned businesses are the heartbeat of manufacturing in America. The episode explores how manufacturing businesses passed down through generations have helped to shape the industry and how family-run businesses continue to invest in their workers to build momentum for the future. The episode features stories from four creators who paved the way for their families’ manufacturing businesses, including Mary Andringa, chair emeritus of Vermeer in Pella. Andringa’s father, Gary Vermeer, founded the company in 1948. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to spend my career working with my family and being part of Vermeer’s transformation into an enterprise with over 3,500 passionate team members,” Andringa said. “Our story at Vermeer is just one of many — of family-owned manufacturers that keep America running.” The episode can be found at this link on the Creators Wanted website.
