Vernice ‘Flygirl’ Armour to headline Women Lead Change Central Iowa conference
Women Lead Change has announced that Vernice “Flygirl” Armour will headline the organization’s 2021 Central Iowa Conference later this month. In 2003, Armour became the first Black female combat pilot when she flew a helicopter over the deserts of Iraq with her fellow Marines. She replaces previously announced closing keynote speaker Luvvie Ajayi Jones. The conference will take place at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines on Oct. 27 and 28. Virtual registration to the event is open until Oct. 22.
