Volunteer tutors needed at DMACC Adult Literacy Center
The Adult Literacy Center at the DMACC Urban Campus is in need of volunteer tutors, Des Moines Area Community College announced this week. The ALC serves adults who need to improve their reading, writing or speaking skills, and the number of Central Iowans waiting to match with tutors through the center is rising, said ALC spokesperson Vickie Merrifield. Volunteers are asked to attend a two-hour training session and meet with an assigned adult 1 1/2 hours per week, with a one-year commitment.
