United Way of Central Iowa is seeking volunteers to support students at risk of not graduating. On Oct. 19, volunteers will team up with Des Moines Public Schools staff members to visit the homes of students who have missed at least five days in the first month of school. Volunteers will talk with the students about community resources available to them to help remove barriers. Last year, Graduation Walk supported more than 1,713 students and families.
