Carole Chambers, president and CEO of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, plans to retire May 1. Chambers, who became CEO in March 2017, has seen membership grow 30% during her tenure. Assets grew by 40% as of Nov. 30. She also helped launch new programs and events that included YURtern, West Des Moines’ college intern summer program, the bimonthly publication of the West Des Moines Weekender, the Economic Update, First Responders Breakfast and EATweek. Chambers led the creation of the metro-wide Mentoring for Women. The board will be seeking a replacement.
