Ed Wallace, deputy director of Iowa Workforce Development, has been named president and CEO of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, effective Aug. 22. “Ed could recognize we are on a unique trajectory, and he demonstrated a contagious passion to drive us forward into unprecedented territory,” said chamber board chairwoman Julie Eliason. “Ed’s leadership dealing with workforce and tax policy, coupled with his experience serving state and federal government officials, provides our members with a president and CEO who understands the real issues businesses face daily.” Wallace, a native of Iowa City, has a bachelor’s degree from Simpson College and an MBA from the Tippie School of Management at the University of Iowa. He replaces Dave Schwartz, who left in May to become CEO of the Greater Des Moines YMCA.
