Rick Wanamaker, who along with his wife, Marcia, is ranked as the top residential real estate agents in the state, is still being remembered for his exploits with Drake University’s 1969 basketball squad that nearly knocked off UCLA in the NCAA Final Four. The Bleacher Report website ranked the 6-foot-8-inch Wanamaker’s block of a shot by UCLA legend Lew Alcindor, who had a six inch height advantage over the Drake star, as one of the 100 greatest plays in the history of college basketball. The Wanamakers also were recognized as top sellers in the state, compiling $44 million in home sales. During their careers, the Wanamakers, who are agents with Iowa Realty Co. Inc., have recorded $700 million in sales.
