The Des Moines Water Works Board of Trustees announced it has selected five candidates to fill the position of CEO and general manager.

The candidates were selected following a nationwide search conducted by Colin Baenziger & Associates, a national recruitment firm.

The candidates are Patrick Ball, utilities director for the city of Cedar Rapids; William Gilmore, previously a principal with CDM Smith in Edison, N.J.; Kirk Hobbs, vice president of community and economic development for Duke Energy, Plainfield, Ind.; William Stowe, assistant manager, public works and engineering, city of Des Moines; and Jason Yarborough, community manager, Barefoot Bay, Fla.

An open house to meet the candidates will be held Aug. 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Des Moines Water Works, 2201 George Flagg Parkway.

The current CEO and general manager, Randy Beavers, announced in April that he will retire effective Sept. 7. The board plans to announce the new CEO the week of Aug. 13.
