Waukee and West Des Moines water utility to search for more water

Engineering firm Veenstra & Kimm Inc. will launch a search for a water supply that could quench the needs of the rapidly growing city of Waukee. The Waukee City Council and the board of West Des Moines Water Works voted Tuesday to share the costs of the $84,000 study. For now, Waukee buys water from Des Moines Water Works. If a sufficient supply of water is found in the Raccoon River aquifer that lies between Interstate 35 and Van Meter, the West Des Moines water utility could supply Waukee’s water needs.
