Examples abound of sewer projects that have led to development spurts in Greater Des Moines. The extension of sewer lines across Interstate 35 fed construction booms in the west. Think Glen Oaks, West Glen, Jordan Creek and all of the housing in West Des Moines. A little farther north, Urbandale’s westward expansion was fueled by sewer lines that led to a truck stop. Little wonder that Waukee city officials were pleased to announce the Fox Creek sewer extension, which will serve the Alice’s Road corridor after it is completed next spring. Developers expect a colossal construction boom to follow the sewer and the eventual construction of an interchange at Alice’s Road and Interstate 80.
