Jennifer Hahn and Robert Palmer were named the Citizen of the Year and Emerging Citizen of the Year, respectively, by the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and city of West Des Moines. Hahn, a Drake graduate who has lived in West Des Moines for 25 years, has been involved with the Youth Justice Initiative since 2002, becoming director in 2018. Palmer, the president of the West Des Moines Community Foundation and secretary of the West Des Moines Chamber, is a Drake University alumnus who co-founded the National Civility Summit for Local Governments, hosts speaker events and serves on advisory boards.
