Webspec Design awarded $15,000 to local nonprofit organizations Thursday evening. Six nonprofit organizations received cash donations from the small business, which chose give back to the community as a way to celebrate the support it has received during 15 years in business. On With Life, a brain injury rehabilitation center in Ankeny, won $5,000 and four other nonprofits each were awarded $1,250. The groups include, Courage League Sports, Des Moines Area Religious Council, Freedom for Youth, and the Pet Project Midwest. Webspec owner and founder Jeremiah Terhark, who in 2001 was awarded the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award scholarship, which he used to create his business, commemorated the impact of that scholarship by donating $5,000 to the Hoover Presidential Foundation to be used to help fund future uncommon student scholarships.
