We’ll drink to this: Templeton Rye will be distilled in Iowa
The folks who brought you the cherished and controversial Templeton Rye — billed as an Iowa product, though it was distilled in Indiana — want to make the rye whiskey in Iowa, The Des Moines Register reported. The company, which now finishes and bottles the product in Templeton, Iowa, is asking the Iowa Economic Development Authority for $1.6 million in tax credits and tax refunds for a production and warehouse facility in Templeton. The city of Templeton is also expected to approve a $254,352 tax abatement for a project expected to create 27 jobs. The $26 million expansion is completed by spring 2019.
