Wellmark makes $100,000 challenge grant to Isiserettes
Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced a $100,000 award to the Isiserettes, a Des Moines youth drill and drum team. The award kicked off the Isiserettes’ capital campaign for their new building, located at 2124 Grand Ave. The nonprofit youth group serves boys and girls from 7 to 18 years old, with the major goals of building character and social skills. Wellmark has also challenged the Isiserettes to raise an additional $200,000 by Dec. 31, 2019. Once that additional money or signed commitment letters are in hand, Wellmark will make an additional $100,000 contribution to the scholarship endowment fund, the Des Moines-based health insurer said in a release. “The Isiserettes are based on tradition, pride, dedication and making a difference, and Wellmark shares similar values,” said John Forsyth, Wellmark chairman and CEO. “We recognize the value this organization is providing youth in our community.” To learn more about the capital campaign or how to volunteer with the Isiserettes, click here.
