West Bancorporation Inc. has been named to the Piper Sandler Sm-All Stars Class of 2021. The West Des Moines-based parent of West Bank was one of 35 small-cap banks in the country named to the list, which places the bank among the top 10% in the industry in performance metrics that are measured. The annual analysis of publicly traded financial institutions by the investment bank ranks performance of banks with a market capitalization below $2.5 billion, and encompasses a rigorous selection criteria related to growth, profitability, credit quality and strength of capital. The 35 banks were selected from among 386 institutions, which represented 91% of banks and thrifts that trade on a major exchange. The banks named to the list “deliver bottom line results that are markedly better than the industry as a whole,” according to Piper Sandler.
