156 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentConcerns were raised this week about a plan by Kum & Go to build a convenience store with fuel pumps on the northeast corner of Grand Avenue and Raccoon River Drive in West Des Moines.
A resident who lives in the nearby gated community of Glen Oaks told a subcommittee of the West Des Moines City Council that the 24-hour nature of the business could be disruptive to the area.
“It’s pretty close to my property,” said Josh Janeczko, who lives at 1753 Glenleven Terrace. “We’re concerned about the motoring public that will be coming off from the interstate.”
Janeczko has also raised objections to the development of Suite Shots, a golf entertainment venue proposed south of Grand Avenue and west of Interstate Highway 35.
Construction of the convenience store is expected to begin later this year. City staff said the Board of Adjustment must approve a conditional use permit for the project before it can move forward.
