Officials from Iowa State University and Sticks Inc. will unveil a large commemorative plaque celebrating Iowa State’s upcoming 150th birthday this evening in Des Moines.

The 6-foot by 8-foot colorful wood mural commissioned for Iowa State’s sesquicentennial by the Office of the President. Created by Sticks, the mural captures what people love about Iowa State: places, events, attitudes, people and history. It contains hundreds of images from actual submissions of what ISU alumni, employees and friends find special about the university. Sticks Inc. and University Museums contributed financially to the project.

The mural will become part of Iowa State’s Art on Campus collection and also will be displayed during the sesquicentennial kickoff on April 21 at Veishea.
