Willises receive 2019 Tocqueville Society Award
Rich and Kim Willis have received the 2019 Tocqueville Society Award. The award is United Way of Central Iowa’s highest honor, given annually to an individual or household that exemplifies inspirational and sustained leadership and service to the Central Iowa community through United Way. The Tocqueville Society, a United Way philanthropic group, recognizes the more than 450 households that annually contribute $10,000 or more into the community in the areas of health and human services. Rich Willis, owner of Willis Automotive, and his wife together have given at the Tocqueville level since 2004, and in 2016 they formed a United Way Endow Iowa Fund to give at this level in perpetuity. They have also served in a variety of roles to raise funds for United Way. A committee of past Tocqueville Society honorees selects each year’s winners. The award was presented at the annual Tocqueville Society celebration on Oct. 7.
