Volunteer Iowa has announced the winners of the fifth annual Give Back Iowa Challenge, a campaign in which businesses encourage their employees to volunteer and log their hours as part of an eight-week challenge from April 1 to May 31 across the state. The winners are: Small: Poet Biorefining, Hanlontown; Honorable Mention, Invision, Des Moines and Waterloo. Medium: Clear Lake Bank & Trust Co., Clear Lake; Honorable Mention, First Citizens Bank, Mason City. Large: Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, Riverside; Honorable Mention, John Deere Des Moines Area, Des Moines. The winners will receive a visit from Gov. Kim Reynolds or Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg in the coming months and be presented with a trophy. The 2019 Give Back Iowa Challenge had 49 participating organizations representing over 45,000 employees in Iowa who logged over 74,000 volunteer hours, the value of which exceeds $1.8 million.
