125 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and Law, Lift IOWAAs the Democrats formalize their nomination of the first female candidate for president, an Iowa advocacy group says female candidates will fill out every level of the state’s November ballot. The group 50-50 in 2020, a statewide initiative to help elect more Iowa women to office, said Iowans will see women running for the U.S. Senate and two of the state’s four congressional districts as well as 59 women running for office in the Iowa House and Senate. “The more females seen running for top-of-the-ballot office, the easier it becomes for people to see women as contenders, beginning with themselves.” said Maggie Tinsman, 50-50 co-founder and a former state senator from Bettendorf.
