Ames-based Workiva announced that its cloud-based Wdesk software was used to submit the first filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under the Inline XBRL format. The first Inline XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) filing made by a Workiva client was less than three weeks after the SEC allowed the voluntarily file-structured, financial statement format in the United States. Inline XBRL eliminates duplicative SEC filing requirements because it allows the standardized, machine-readable format to be integrated within companies’ HTML filings. Workiva’s customers accounted for more than 50 percent of the XBRL facts filed with the SEC in the first half of 2016, the company said in a release.
