The semifinalists were selected from nearly 400 submissions spanning 65 countries. The top 10 startups — representing eight countries — bring a diverse range of technical expertise, including biotechnology, digital agriculture, post-harvest innovation, soil and seed science, animal health and renewable energy solutions. “The Innovate for Impact Challenge embodies the mission of the World Food Prize Foundation: elevating bold ideas, amplifying global collaboration and accelerating solutions to end hunger,” said Mashal Husain, president of the World Food Prize Foundation, in a prepared statement. “These top 10 ventures are more than finalists; they are trailblazers shaping the future of food.” The top three finalists will take part in the 2025 Borlaug Dialogue to pitch their agritech venture in a “Shark Tank”-style presentation to a panel of judges. The winner of the challenge will receive a $50,000 prize. Second and third place will receive $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The public now can help decide which startup should take home the top prize.
