World Food Prize side event to cover food insecurity’s effect on national security

Panelists will discuss how support for agricultural development and innovation can help mitigate multiple security concerns and benefit global stability. The event, which will start with a reception at 6 p.m., will include a virtual and in-person option in Room 305 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Opening remarks will start at 6:30 p.m. Speakers will include Manjit Misra, director of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture; U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst; Tricia Bell, CEO of the Farm Journal Foundation; Edwin Price, professor at Texas A&M University; Tucker Kuhn, executive director of Roots of Peace; Kip Tom, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture in Rome; and Bram Govaerts, director general of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center.
