The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute is currently accepting applications for the Youth Leadership Initiative Class of 2023. Current high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors are invited to apply. The YLI provides students from public and private high schools with experiential learning and leadership opportunities that enhance self-confidence and encourage involvement in all levels of community life. Students who participate in this tuition-free program meet twice monthly between August and May. The program seeks students with plenty of room to grow, and participants who gain the most are those eager to learn about their community and are enthusiastic about gaining exposure to possible career paths, among other attributes. Interested individuals are invited to learn more about the program through a virtual informational event on March 8 at 7 p.m. Registration is free and must be completed on the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute website.
